What does Fanum tax mean?

A fanum tax is what happens when the food on your plate is considered fair game. A friend reaches over, takes a bite or half the bowl, and calls it taxation rather than theft. The word spread because it finally put a name to something everyone recognized: sharing enforced without consent. It is usually said with affection, but if your fries keep disappearing, the joke is doing a lot of work.

Where does Fanum tax come from?

The tax collector is Fanum, a member of the streaming collective AMP, the group that includes Kai Cenat and Duke Dennis. Clips from the crew's Twitch streams from around 2022 show him taking bites from his friends' meals on camera, and chat named the practice fanum tax. By 2023 the phrase had escaped Twitch, showing up in school slang and lunchbox captions.

How to use Fanum tax
