What does 真香 mean?
真香 describes the moment someone who swore they would never touch something ends up enjoying it. It is used less about food than about flip-flops of opinion: refusing a game, a trend or an idol with great drama, then quietly becoming a fan. Saying it about yourself is light self-mockery; saying it about someone else is a gentle gotcha.
Where does 真香 come from?
The phrase comes from a 2014 episode of Hunan TV's 《变形计》, a reality show that sends city teenagers to the countryside. 王境泽, one of the participants, declared he would rather starve than eat the villagers' food, then sat down and, over a bowl of rice, sighed “真香”. The clip resurfaced in 2018 as a meme template and turned the line into the standard tag for any refusal-then-acceptance flip.
