What does 如何呢?又能怎 mean?

You fail an exam, or the boss says two sentences too many, and the reply is 如何呢?又能怎: so what, and what can be done about it? The phrase is a shrug put into words, aimed at the things nobody can change. Its tone is what matters, cheeky and light rather than sour, which is why it works as a way of taking the pressure off instead of giving in. That is also where it parts company with 摆烂. You are not letting things rot; you are refusing to let one problem set the mood of your whole day. People quote it on its own, often keeping the sing-song rhythm it had in the performance it came from.

Where does 如何呢?又能怎 come from?

Singer 单依纯 (Shan Yichun) rearranged 李荣浩 (Li Ronghao)'s 《李白》 for the competition show 《歌手2025》 (Singer 2025) in June 2025, and made it defiant. Her version folded in references to Honor of Kings, the game in which Li Bai is a playable hero, and kept returning to the line 'how about it? what can be done?'. Clips moved fast across Bilibili and Xiaohongshu, and the National Language Resources Monitoring and Research Center counted the phrase among its top internet buzzwords of 2025.
