What does 从夯到拉 mean?
The ladder has five rungs: 夯 means a knockout, something so good it hits; 顶级 is simply top class; 人上人 means above the common crowd; NPC marks the forgettable middle, content that neither impresses nor offends; and 拉完了 closes the scale for outright disasters. NPC long ago became the standard word for a background extra, so its slot in the middle of the ladder needs no translation. Commenters apply the scale to outfits, drama episodes, restaurant meals and game updates alike, usually by dropping a single rung name and letting everyone fill in the rest. That compression is the fun: a five-word review economy for the feed era.
Where does 从夯到拉 come from?
The scale grew out of outfit-rating circles, where 夯 (a word built on the construction term for rammed earth, borrowed to mean “stunning”) anchored the top rung and 拉完了 the bottom. 红网, the Hunan news site, published a commentary on the spreading cry 夯爆了 on March 22, 2026, by 余娟 of the Xiangtan-based 湘潭大学. A Zhihu explainer on April 22, 2026, mapped the full five-rung system as network grading jargon, and 腾讯新闻 ran its own walkthrough on October 7, 2026, noting how the ladder had migrated from fashion comments into games and shows.
